Australian Certified Organic
ACO provides certification services to operators from all sectors of the organic industry. Certification ensures compliance with national production standards and allows trace back of all products to their origin.
The Australian Certified Organic logo (affectionately known as the 'bud') is Australia's organic industry's leading logo. It carries with it the ability to market organic produce on both domestic and international markets with confidence and market advantage.
This logo is well recognised both in Australia, and now in increasingly key areas such as Asia, Europe and USA. Having the largest market share means that organic certification is now becoming synonymous with BFA certification and the BFA logo.
ACO’s clients include certified operators in the Pacific, South East Asia and Japan, as well as in all states and territories of Australia. ACO clients, large and small, represent all sectors in the organic industry – from primary producers, processors and exporters to retailers and wholesalers.
Lloyd's Vineyard is certified and registered bio-dynamic producers and processors with Australian Certified Organic (ACO). Contact us if you need to see our current certificate.

Biological farming encompasses the International term "Organic" but is far more advanced and the requirements
for registration are more particular. The standards demanded by Biological Farmers of Australia are the highest in the World and have been adopted by the World Sustainable Agricultural Association (W.S.A.A.)
- No insecticides are allowed, either contact, fumigant or systemic. No artificial fertilisers or foliar sprays are allowed, especially any containing ammonias or nitrates.
- To provide organic nitrogen, legume plants are grown between the vines during Autumn and Winter.
- The only fungicides allowed are those laid down by Dr. Rudolf Steiner in 1926. All modern systemic preparations manufactured by large chemical companies are totally banned.
- Pest and disease control is achieved on crops by husbanding Healthy Soil Structure and making the full spectrum of nutrients available to the vine which then becomes resistant.
- No herbicides are allowed and the weeds must be controlled by mulching or light cultivation. No hormones are allowed to improve bud burst, increase the size of the grapes or speed up maturity.
- Green manure crops are harvested and processed in giant compost heaps. When fully decomposed are then returned to the vines as humus.
- Owner/operators seeking certification of their farms must satisfy a board of examiners of their knowledge of a complete biological system and their ability and integrity to carry it out methodically.
